About Us
Gorden's Tax Service was established in January of 1973 serving clients in the Deer River, Grand
Rapids, and Remer areas. At the time the office was a part of
Jim Gorden's home north of Deer River. Jim Gorden has a BA from the University of Minnesota. He is an Enrolled Agent
licensed by the IRS to be able to handle representation in all matters before the IRS including in court and audits.
Jim is a Registered Investment Representative of H.D. Vest Investment Services. Gorden's Tax Service is a member of
The National Independent Businesses and a member of the U.S Chamber of Commerce and the Deer River Chamber of Commerce.
In January, 1985 Gorden's Tax Service moved into its present office in Deer River and hired its
first employee. Present staff in addition to Jim is Bill Hron who has an accounting degree from BSU. Bill started in
1996 as tax return preparer. Dawn Hegdahl is the office manager and bookkeeper who started work here in Jan, 1997. Kay
Krueger started work here in Jan, 1999 as receptionist and financial representative. New in 2010 was Salli Fox who
graduated from BSU with an accounting degree. She will be helping part time during tax season as a return
preparer.
The computer age came to this office in 1996 when all tax returns that could be were prepared
on the computer. Electronic filing of tax returns also started in 1996. Computerized bookkeeping and payroll began being
offered in 1999. As the Itasca County area near Grand Rapids, MN has grown, so has Gorden's Tax Service.
